Keeping Towcester Litter Free
Towcester Town Council and South Northants Council carry out regular street cleaning and litter removal but don’t always tackle our larger open spaces. Residents on Belle Baulk have formed a local litter picking group to clear rubbish from the open areas around the adventure playground and the wildlife area towards the A5.
‘It is really heart warming that local people take pride in their environment’ said Chris Lofts, Towcester Town Councillor and Belle Baulk resident. ‘Thanks to some very dedicated residents the litter picking group has met on several occasions and regularly removes dozens of black sacks full of bottles, cans, sweet wrappers and plastic bags.’
The group has recently teamed up with Keep Britain Tidy who have provided black sacks, safety equipment and first aid training. If you want to join in future events, or organise your own litter picking group in another part of Towcester contact Chris Lofts on 01327 354396.
