Towcester Lib Dem Christmas Update

by Chris Lofts on 21 December, 2011

Thank you again for all your support and encouragement over the past six months since we were elected to South Northamptonshire Council. Like you many people in Towcester have passed on their appreciation of the work we are doing.
Towcester people like the fact Liberal Democrats keep in touch and work all year round, not just before elections.
Since May 2011 we have:
• Pushed developers to listen to local people before submitting the Towcester South Expansion plans
• Raised concerns over the County Council’s crazy decision to plunge Towcester into darkness by switching off street lights
• Continued to strongly urge South Northants Council to review their planned demolition of council offices at Springfields and move to Moat Lane in the centre of town
• Supported families to keep the school crossing patrol across Vernon Road
• Supported individuals and families with a range of housing, benefits, planning, local services and other issues
• Made sure that the need for new Public Toilets in Towcester is high on the list of priorities for both SNC and the Town Council
• Challenged SNC on why public money was spent on a hostel for the homeless was wasted, with the building left empty for five years
• Challenged the over generous allowances paid to members of the Conservative cabinet at SNC
We will carry on representing Towcester people to the best of our ability so do please let us know your views, concerns and hopes for our town.
Together we can all make Towcester the community we really want for our families both today and for generations to come.
Best wishes for Christmas and a Happy New Year,

Martin Johns & Chris Lofts
Towcester Liberal Democrat Councillors
