Liberal Democrats on South Northants Council welcome the proposal to install solar panels on Council buildings in Towcester. Towcester Leisure Centre and Tove Refuse Depot will both be fitted out with energy generating equipment that will be good for the environment and save the Council in the region of £20,000 a year. The proposals are subject to Planning Approvals

Commenting Councillor Martin Johns said, “Protecting the environment has long been a key objective for Liberal Democrats. Installing Solar Panels on public buildings is a really good idea which sets an example to other large energy users in the district.”

Councillor Chris Lofts added, “Let us hope the Council approves the planning applications. This is just the type of proposal Liberal Democrats wish to see implemented. Generating electricity from solar energy makes both environmental and financial sense.”

Householders can also install Solar Panels subject to necessary permissions. Many electricity supply companies are offering subsidies to help with the cost. Interested householders are advised to contact their supplier or local installation firms to see what deals are available.
